What is the Cambridge Norwich Tech Corridor?

The Cambridge Norwich Tech Corridor will create over £500m of innovation-led growth, investment in infrastructure, housing and skills.

Our partnership team represents:
Breckland District Council, Cambridgeshire County Council, East Cambridgeshire District Council, Forest Heath District Council, Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough Enterprise Partnership, New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership, Norfolk County Council, Norwich City Council, South Norfolk Council, St Edmundsbury Borough Council and Suffolk County Council.

We have all the ingredients for growth: emerging sectors, low cost space, infrastructure (including the recent dualling of the A11), networks and a fast growing economy. Our world-class universities, research institutes and long established tech businesses have created a knowledgeable talent pool, motivated to stay in the East to enjoy a better quality of life.

What we're going to do

Realising growth potential

With a connected location strategy, business networking, supply chain management and cluster support, we will create a model that balances the enormous growth potential of the City of Cambridge with relatively low cost employment space along the Cambridge Norwich Tech Corridor.

We will facilitate and encourage collaboration between the universities in Cambridge and Norwich to enable the application of technology to new product development and the commercialisation of research and innovation.

Joined up thinking

We will cooperate with each other and will work collaboratively with land-owners and developers, using planning powers and public resources to create suitably serviced and accessed employment land at agreed locations along the Tech Corridor.

Continuous Infrastructure Improvement

We are working hard to arrange an upgrade to the strategically important Ely North railway junction, which will give us more frequent trains, as well as improved cross country and freight services. We are also working collaboratively to bring forward further road improvements and the necessary upgrade to power and broadband services.

New homes for new jobs

We will facilitate the delivery of 20,000 new homes along the Tech Corridor to complement the planned growth in high value-added employment.

Our Location

The Tech Corridor spans the counties of Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire. We have one of Europe’s largest single-site concentrations of research in food, health and environmental sciences together with clusters of excellence in digital, manufacturing and advanced engineering. Greater Norwich and Cambridge are both within east reach of the countryside, coast and the Capital.
