Innovative employment models discussed at Tech Corridor Talent Taskforce

Innovative ways of working that could help attract and retain the best talent for the region were discussed at the first meeting of the Cambridge Norwich Tech Corridor Talent Taskforce Special Interest Group.

Businesses and support organisations from the region gathered at Howes Percival’s Norwich office to tackle the challenges facing firms when it comes to identifying and recruiting staff.

Linn Clabburn, programme director of the Cambridge Norwich Tech Corridor, said: “We were delighted to assemble such a diverse group of companies for our first Talent Taskforce meeting.

“From our conversations with businesses, we know that attracting and retaining talent is a high priority across all our key sectors. We want the Tech Corridor to be known as a top-tier destination for the brightest and best from the UK and beyond, and that means thinking creatively and coming up with innovative solutions to attract highly-skilled people to the region.

“We enjoyed a lively discussion and identified three potential areas of work which we hope will make a tangible difference for firms in the area.”

The meeting looked at topics including talent attraction, the barriers in the recruitment process and ways that these could be removed. It also focused on talent utilisation, exploring ways that the workforce already in the region can achieve its full potential.

Three potential workstreams were identified, some or all of which will be taken forward by businesses with support from the Tech Corridor team.

Outcomes from the Talent Taskforce meeting can be found in a whitepaper, which can be read online here or downloaded here.
