East of England Tech 50 highlights region’s pioneering businesses

Fifty leading businesses from across East Anglia have been named in a new ranking highlighting the tech talent in the region.

Cambridge Norwich Tech Corridor programme director Linn Clabburn was one of the judges on the East of England Tech 50, a list of innovative technology businesses compiled by Business Cloud magazine.

KisanHub, the Cambridge-based developer of a software platform for the agri-food industry, tops the list, with eight of the top ten based in the Tech Corridor.

Linn said: “Congratulations to all the businesses named in the East of England Tech 50. The list demonstrates what a diverse and innovative tech sector we have in the region, with companies that are shaping the future of food, energy, medicine and mobility.

“The Tech 50 reflects the East’s vibrant eco-system, with established market leaders such as KisanHub, Bango and Darktrace named in the top ten alongside up-and-coming stars such as Pikl and Tech Corridor ambassador company Safepoint.

“At the Cambridge Norwich Tech Corridor we’re committed to helping these companies thrive by creating a top-tier tech destination for the talented people, high growth companies and long-term investment that create jobs, transform lives and drive economic growth.”

Staying at the cutting edge

KisanHub’s software platform helps manage the agri-food supply chain from the field to the factory. It is used by the likes of brewing giant Anheuser-Busch InBev, behind brands including Budweiser, Fosters and Stella Artois, to connect directly with farmers and promote sustainable growing practices.

Co-founder Giles Barker told Business Cloud: “It’s always nice to be recognised for the hard work that our team is doing [but] I don’t think Sachin and I feel like we’ve been successful. We aren’t satisfied with what we’re doing yet. We’re always pushing for more and hustling as much as we can.

“We need to bring new ideas to the table because if we don’t, someone else will come along – perhaps bigger or better-funded or more established – and start to copy what we do and take our market share. We need to make sure we stay at the cutting edge of bringing new technologies to our market.”
